Pheme is the UWA Authentication Management System , and allows you to perform four functions: Activation, password changing, challenge changing, and password resetting.
If during the process you don't understand what you are
supposed to do, you can click on the
icons, to get some hints - and if you
are really confused, or something goes wrong, please
contact help desk on +61 8 6488 2822 or email its-help@admin.uwa.edu.au.
Activation
You need to activate your account if you are a new visitor member.
During the activation process you will be asked for your visitor number and your visitor card barcode number.
Please read the terms and conditions of computer usage and if you agree click I agree.
You then will be asked to enter a valid email address. This will be used for all correspondance relating to your account, including password and account expiry notification.
Next, you will be asked to enter a challenge question and answer, which will be required when resetting your password. The challenge answer must be 6 or more characters long and may contain letters numbers, spaces and special characters. The challenge answer is NOT case sensitive (So AnSwEr is the same thing as answer). Click Update.
At this point a random password will be generated and your
account is activated. You must change your password now,
otherwise you will not be able to login. Please take note of
the password rules (Click the
icon next to the password field to read them).
Changing your password
For security, you will need to change your password regularly and you will receive an email when this is required. Before proceeding please ensure that all other programs are closed (Outlook, etc).
Log on to Pheme with your visitor number and your current password. Click on the Change Password link. Next enter your current password again and then a new password. You will need to enter the new password again to confirm that you typed it correctly. You can't use any of your last five passwords.
Remember that after you click Update you have to log out of your computer and log back in with your new password.
Changing your challenge question and answer
Your challenge question and answer are used when resetting your password. To change them, log on to Pheme and click the Change Challenge link. Your challenge answer can contain letters, numbers, spaces and special characters. It must be six characters or more and is NOT case sensitive.
Resetting your password
If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it here. When you are asked your challenge question, enter your challenge answer and your password will be reset to a temporary password. You must change this temporary password at this point.
